More and more vehicles are equipped with radar technology, which is good from a safety perspective and other features for the car.
Some refinish color formulas contain pigments that interfere with these radar signals which can cause the functioning of radar devices to be impaired after a vehicle has been repaired and painted.
Color formulas that would impair the functioning of radar devices have been checked and if needed redeveloped to meet the OEM specifications to ensure the vehicle's safety.
Radar transparent formulas can be retrieved in two ways:
- by performing a Home search
- by means of a bank search
1) Retrieve a Radar transparent formula from Home search
When a color code has been entered in the search bar, for example VWLR7H, the following list is shown
Approved color formulas can be recognized by a radar symbol which is shown at the right end of the window
For example the formula shown below has this symbol which means that it contains a Radar transparent formula.
When this formula is selected the Radar transparent formula is displayed by default
Keep in mind that a Radar transparent formula must NOT be adjusted because this will change the radar transparency properties of the formula.
2) Retrieve a Radar transparent formula from Bank search
Make a measurement of the to be repaired car and import in MIXIT and enter the Car brand and color code
Click on the 3 dots to open the the dialog box and select "Search radar transparent"
The required formula will be displayed
Notice that the confidence bar only shows a dark blue color which means that the formula is NOT optimized to avoid that the formula will not meet the required OEM specifications.
After finishing the Radar compliant color it is not possible to perform a Color Correction, at the end of the correction steps you will receive a message that a "radar compliant formula cannot be corrected"
