Microsoft now allows Windows 10 Home and Professional devices to opt in for Extended Security Updates (ESU). Follow this guide to enable ESU and continue receiving security updates beyond the standard support period.
Requirements
- The Windows 10 PC must have all current updates installed.
- A valid Microsoft account (create one if you don’t have one).
Step 1 – Verify Updates
- On your Windows 10 PC, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Ensure all pending updates are installed.
- When the system is fully up to date, an option will appear to enroll in Extended Security Updates.
- If the option is missing, click Check for updates until the system is current.
Step 2 – Enroll in ESU
- Click Enroll Now.
- Click Next.
- Sign in with your Microsoft account. If you don’t have one, choose Create account and follow the instructions.
- After signing in, select Back up your PC settings, then click Next.
Once enrollment is complete, your PC will continue receiving security updates until October 13, 2026.
